Mindful Musings

Elevate Your Week!

Hey Nesters!

I am excited to share my latest insights in finding balance and harmony through your mind, body, and space. Thanks again for letting me join you on your journey, and as always, I hope you find some fulfillment and inspiration along the way! Here are my ruminations …

MIND

It seems we are finally moving forward with more familiar rituals as the world reopens its doors again. We are refocusing our thoughts on our home gardens, trips to visit extended family, and what sports to consider for the upcoming season (just to name a few!). As always, the hustle and bustle can start to wear us down though if we don’t take time out to care for ourselves. Self-care is not selfish, and by taking intentional time to refuel your mind (and body) you are able to reduce stress and be more present for others; there is science to back this! Prioritize some time every day for quiet contemplation, relaxation, and/or self-compassion – think bath, reading, walking, and other ways of “taking a break.”

BODY

I have been suffering with migraines and other issues for a few years now. Like most of us, I tried a number of over-the-counter and prescription medications to combat the symptoms, with varying success. When you find something that truly provides relief, that’s great! However, most of these options are not long-term solutions, and won’t get to the source of the problem. You’d be surprised how much our body is connected, and a headache and even a sore back could both be related to something unexpected like spinal misalignment. The longer you leave these underlying conditions undetected and untreated, the worse things will look down the road. So, whether you are currently suffering from a condition or just ready to focus on your overall health, consider visiting a holistic doctor to get a closer look at your body’s alignment. I have seen very positive changes since visiting my chiropractor, reflexologist, and trying acupuncture (added some links if you are in the Richmond VA area). Take charge and don’t give up when it comes to your health!

SPACE

I know a lot of folks have been focused on home improvements since the pandemic started, as we are spending much more time there and having more downtime overall. For many though, this has been a rough time mentally, physically, and financially, and the thought of trying to update or start a home project seems farfetched. One takeaway I have learned through almost any area of practice though is that small steps make big impacts! We don’t have to think about home improvement as ripping down walls and buying new furniture. You don’t even need to buy paint (while I still think this is one of the most affordable ways to change up a space). My first advice is quite the opposite… declutter! Spend some time sorting through those piles and multiples of items to pull out just the ones that make bring you joy (thanks Marie Kondo for your wisdom!). Not only will this lighten up your space and allow you to flow and function more easily, it will bring you joy to know what you’ve accomplished and to see your most prized possessions shine. What better time than Spring for a little freshening up?!

Hope you enjoyed this week’s insights, and thanks again for being a subscriber and supporting my mission to bring harmony and balance to the modern lifestyle.  I look forward to continuing to share new and exciting content with you.

Take care!
